Legacy at East Lake’s $35M redevelopment completed
An extensive redevelopment at Legacy at East Lake brought new amenities to the 1970’s-era high rise. Rents are capped at 30% for this 55+ community located in the East Lake neighborhood.
Legacy at East Lake currently serves households earning 30%, 50% and 60% of the area median income. Columbia Residential manages the property.
A collection of public and private donors including Truist Community Capital, Atlanta Housing, Georgia Department of Community Affairs and Invest Atlanta contributed to the $35 million redevelopment. Updates included necessary infrastructure improvements to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety and elevators. Plus, new facilities were created including a business center, theater room and fitness area.
Local leaders celebrated the redevelopment at a grand reopening event.
“Atlanta’s legacy community is the heart of our city, and my administration is committed to ensuring they can live and thrive with dignity and safety,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens in a press release. “We are deeply committed to keeping all of Atlanta affordable, especially for the residents who made us who we are today. Legacy at East Lake is a promise kept for the people who have called this neighborhood home for decades and for those beginning a new chapter. This is not just housing, but community connections and neighborhood stability, continuing to make Atlanta a city of opportunity for all.”
