2010 EarthCraft Award Winners Celebrate 10 Years of Green Building across the Southeast; Over 8,500 EarthCraft Buildings Certified in Six States ATLANTA, GA – January 29, 2010 – The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) and Southface kicked off the EarthCraft program’s second decade with a grand celebration at Philips Arena. More than 250 EarthCraft builders, contractors, designers, architects and sponsors gathered at Philips, the country’s first LEED certified sports arena, to celebrate a decade of  accomplishments in green building across the Southeast. Led by David Ellis, executive vice president of the Greater Atlanta HBA and Dennis Creech, executive director of Southface, attendees celebrated the decade’s completion of 5,371 EarthCraft single family homes; 3,117 EarthCraft multifamily units; 55 EarthCraft renovation projects; five EarthCraft community developments; and five EarthCraft light commercial buildings, all of which are designed and built for energy, water and resource efficiency. The EarthCraft program also received a grant from the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (GEFA) to increase its engagement with home builder associations across the state, and to train additional building professionals on EarthCraft design and construction principles. Said David Ellis, “We are very proud of the work our EarthCraft professionals do in the Southeast, recognizing that EarthCraft buildings address the unique energy, water and climate conditions prevalent in this region of the country. The EarthCraft team congratulates all 2009 award nominees and winners!”
