Berkeley Lake officials announced this week that they received a $723,000 check from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to repair their flood-battered dam.
In January, FEMA announced that it would send a total of $2.6 million to Berkeley Lake for dam repairs. Berkeley Lake’s dam suffered major damage during the storms of September 2009.
Mayor Lois Salter said the city recently hired J.M. Wilkerson Construction Co. of Marietta to handle the repairs. City officials expect the project to take about 340 days.
